The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication Design degree program encourages meaningful human communication. Meaning drives important conversations in every profession and calling. Fine Art Practice
Build your portfolio and resume by interning with one of the many local Pittsburgh artists and businesses.
Biblical Aesthetics
Study communication design from a biblical perspective. By emphasizing imago Dei, or image bearers of God, 91猫先生鈥檚 program teaches students an inclusive, accessible design process that considers the needs of all people
Studio and Agency Tours
As part of the communication design program, students meet practicing artists and manufacturers, where they learn the dynamics of concept development, craftsmanship, and project completion

Discover painting materials, processes, techniques, and language related to the visual vocabulary and production of paintings
3D Art Fundamentals
Use sculpture and architecture projects to learn how to make and manipulate structures

Study the theories and methods of communication as it pertains to spaces
The mission of the communication department is to enable students to gain the skills, insights, perspectives, and knowledge to become effective, competent, wise communicators as they represent Christ in their professions, communities, and families.
This mission rests on three premises:
- Communication is a gift from God.
- We are to be stewards and servants of these gifts.
- We are called to use communication creatively and compassionately to bridge differences of culture, embody servant leadership, and transform society for the kingdom of Christ.
God as our creator made in us a desire and ability to fashion and make things. By blending the study of communication with fine art practice, our courses equip students for a variety of callings. If you have been made for making evocative, beautiful and interesting things, this program will develop those gifts into genuine abilities useful in the field of your choice.
The learning objectives for communication design majors are:
- Students majoring in communication design will develop relational skills, transactional skills, critical thinking, and professional identity.
- Students will be able to develop an understanding of self and others to effectively communicate in a variety of relationships, settings, and situations.
- Students will be able to convey messages (written, oral, visual) clearly, concisely, and correctly. They will also be able to critically analyze the messages of others.
- Students will be able to develop critical thinking skills which will aid them in making rational choices in a variety of personal and professional circumstances.
- Students will be equipped with the knowledge and values of their chosen vocation through a Christian perspective.
